Top Bollywood films...1

Bollywood is the fastest growing industry where films in every genre are produced and released viz. romance, crime, suspense, thriller, horror, comedy, historic, biography and tragedy. Around 125 films are produced and released in a year. A lot of promotions are done by film makers to ensure their films reach the masses, a lot of buzz happens and rumors spread across related to the film may be start cast, director, or on anything to make the film much talk about, sometimes film makers resort to some sort of publicity stunts to make the headlines. They do every possible effort to make the film box office success.

Since years, amid all this,  many watchable films go unnoticed due to simultaneous release of big banner films or multi - starer films or films with controversies.  When films with big star cast or banner is released, small yet full of contents films face difficulty in getting screens or they fail to attract the viewers as viewers have to choose anyone movie out of the two released. There is always fight between film makers to get as many screen as possible. Higher the number of screens, higher the revenues.

A good film comes and goes, nobody knows, they are not much promoted or screened in multiplexes.

I've attempted to make the first list of watchable movies might have slipped from your attention, and now if you get a chance, you much watch it. Here we go;

1. Dozakh In Search Of Heaven.

Released in March 2015, the film is set in the backdrop of small town near Banaras, Uttar Pradesh, India. The story starts with Maulvi Sahab's 12 years old son Jaanu (Janmohammed) goes missing.

Jaanu is very fond of Hindu mythology. He loves Hinduism. In fact, Lord Hanuman is his favorite. He plays the role of Lord Hanuman in the local Raam-Leela play as well. Innocent Jaanu wanted to follow Hindu teachings.

On the other hand, Jaanu's father Maulvi Sahab is an utter Muslim Cleric. He loves his only child Jaanu too much but is upset with his son's attraction for Hindu religion. He scolds and thrashes Jaanu when he comes to know Jaanu played Lord Hanuman.  During the whole film, Maulvi Sahab carries mix emotions of anger and worry for his son's growing preference towards Hinduism. He wants his son to start reading Quran, pay the prayer of Namaaj. Jaanu's mother remains intermediary between the two to maintain the peace. But one day, Jaanu's mother hit by a truck and meets the tragic accident ending up death. Jaanu completely breaks after her demise. And after that Jaanu disappears. At some point in time, this film will bring tears in your eyes. 12 years old Jaanu's role played by Garrick Choudhary is incomparable. Along with Jaanu, the characters of Maulvi Sahab and Hindu priest of temple near Dargah will touch your heart. The meaning of Dozakh means 'hell'. MUST WATCH FILM

2. Bhouri

Released in June 2016, this film throws light on the condition of women in rural India. This film highlights exploitation of women in a male dominated society. Many such movie have been made in this subject, but Bhouri is altogether different and incomparable.   23 years old Bhouri marries to 55 years old man and lives with her husband in a village which is full of devils. Every man of village is wolf in human.

Bhauri's fair complexion and curved features makes her life hell. Every man in the village has desire to get Bhouri. At some point in time, Bhouri's beauty becomes curse for her. Both Bhoauri and her husband face life and death challenges to survive in a village.

Bhouri's character played by Scotland lady Masha Paur is way better and bolder than any Bollywood actress. Bold and beautiful Masha Paur has taken the whole film on her own shoulder. This film couldn't draw much attention due to simultaneous release of Udta Punjab and controversies surrounding that film.

Bhouri's story line is fabulous but you can not watch with your family.

3. City of Gold - Mumbai 1982: Ek Ankahee Kahani

Released in April,2010, the film is set in the backdrop of 1982's Mumbai when it was beginning of shutting down of textile mills. The story revolves around the lives of mill workers who spent their whole life working at mills. The greedy mill owners slowly and gradually shut down the mills to build skyscrapers and shopping malls resulting into loss of mills workers jobs. They even didn't pay their wages and gratuity on which mill workers hoped to survive. Directed by Mahesh Manjarekar and written by Jayant Pawar, the film has so much to deliver. The peek into the rock bottom of mill workers pathetic lives and the times they had no money to eat. Primarily, the story is weaved on a below middle class family which too was the victim of textile mill fiasco. However, the chawl, neighborhood, friendship, extra marital affair were watchable. There are so may turns and twists in the film. The film also highlights the beginning of organised crime in Mumbai. When the things turn worst, mill workers' children cross all lines and land up into crime world. Every actor is completely lost in the character he/she played.

4. Lakshmi

Before going ahead, I would like to highlight two things:

1.You can not watch this film with any of your family member. Quite uncomfortable the situation will be if you do..!!
2.You must have the guts to watch this film. It has violence, absurdity, oppression, prostitution racket, corruption, bribes and what not.

The film is based on true event. 13 years old Lakshi is sold by her father to an agent who pushes her into prostitution. At the age of playing, she was put into the world of inhumanly and ill treated human beings. Every now and then, she goes through extreme suffering. She is beaten and tortured to no limit. She tries to run away from the hell she was landed up but  gets caught every time and gets severe punishment in return. Her efforts go in vain.  In a police raid, she is rescued by a social worker. After that, she does what nobody dared to do.  Lakshmi's role played by Monali Thakur is excellent. Shefali Shah and Satish Kaushik have given outstanding performances. Director Nagesh Kukunoor has also acted in the film.
5. Tahaan

This film is shorter than regular bollywood films. After film finished, I wished the film must have been made as lengthy as regular film, not because of the film story but because of the film location and a boy who played Tahaan.

Set in the backdrop of Kashmir valley where violence and gun fire is common and regular stuff for local people. Tahaan's father goes missing for five years. Tahaan's family is poor.  The family was already in debt and after the death of Tahaan's grandfather, the local moneylender snatches all assets of his family. Tahaan has donkey named Birbal which too is taken away from him by a local moneylender.

While the family tries to come out from the difficult situation and struggles to survive, Tahaan puts his all mind and physical strength to bring his Birbal back. In the journey of bringing his Birbal, Tahaan is directed towards terrorism for which he has no ideal about its consequences. Tahaan's love for his donkey and the struggle to bring him back is worth watching, and the Kashmir valley and lifestyle of its people.

I will write other set of films which are worth watching.
